The challenge

How they came to us

Bar La Esquina is a historic venue in the centre of Alicante with over 30 years of tradition. Its website was an old page built on a 2014 template that took 6 seconds to load and didn't allow online bookings.

70% of the traffic was mobile and most of it bounced before ever seeing the menu. Bookings were taken by phone only, losing all the international tourist customers who prefer to book outside opening hours.

Three previous advertising efforts with two generalist agencies failed to move the needle: ROAS below 1, no sustained increase in bookings.

Diagnosis

What we found when we audited

  • 1The website was failing on four fronts: speed (6s LCP), mobile accessibility (buttons impossible to tap), trust (no testimonials or reviews) and conversion (no integrated booking system).
  • 2The Google Business Profile was claimed but abandoned: no posts, no up-to-date photos, no replies to reviews. Local competitors were replying and taking the 'near me' traffic.
  • 3There was no Restaurant Schema.org, so Google couldn't show opening hours, menu or reviews in rich results.

Strategy

The 4 pillars of the solution

01

New website in Next.js with 2-click booking

Complete rewrite with Next.js 15 + Tailwind. Loads in <1.2s. An always-visible 'Book a table' button that opens Cover/TheFork prefilled. Menu filterable by allergens.

02

Local SEO with Restaurant Schema

Implementation of Schema.org Restaurant + Menu + AggregateRating. Local pages by neighbourhood (centre, old town, market). An hreflang file for UK customers searching in English.

03

Reactivating the Google Business Profile

Weekly posts with the dish of the day, replies to reviews in under 24h, an album of professional photos of the venue and the dishes. An integrated 'Book online and get a free dessert' offer.

04

Review-capture funnel

A QR code on the table leading to a micro-survey. If the rating is 5, it redirects to Google. If it's <5, it opens an internal form for recovery. +127 reviews in 90 days.

We'd tried two agencies before and neither understood our business. Tafa came in, asked two good questions and knew exactly what we needed.
